This OPTi handheld refractometer for measuring salinity is useful for both the food and beverage industry and life science applications. Within the food industry this refractometer can be used to test brines used at the canning and packing stage.
Outside of food and beverage, this refractometer can be used to test brackish waters in desalination operations, ballast water in ships, or within aquaculture to measure the salinity of water used in aquariums or fish farms.
This particular instrument is preloaded with % NaCl (% Sodium Chloride – weight/volume) but as an OPTi refractometer with an onboard library of over 50-scales, it may be configured to display saline in a number of industry standard scales including PSU (Practical Salt Units), PPT (Parts per Thousand), or Saline SG (saline expressed as specific gravity).
